A dog grooming schedule for grooming at home

When did you last trim his nails? Was the bath three weeks ago or six? If you groom your dog at home, every job runs on its own rhythm. EasyRoutine logs each one for free so you can look it up, and with Premium it puts the next brushing, bath or nail trim on your calendar with a reminder.

Why a home grooming schedule slips

Brushing might happen twice a week, teeth a few evenings, ears on Saturdays, nails every few weeks and a bath every month or so. None of these leaves a date behind. The nails clicking on the floor are often the first sign that you lost track.

This page is about grooming your own dog at home, not about booking a groomer. How often your dog needs each job depends on the breed and coat, so ask your vet or groomer and use their answer as your plan. EasyRoutine keeps the record and, if you want, the reminders.

One activity per grooming job

Create a routine called Dog grooming and add one activity for each job:

  • Brushing
  • Teeth
  • Ears
  • Nail trim
  • Bath
  • Groomer for the visits you leave to a professional

Each activity gets its own color on the calendar and its own history. With two dogs, add a routine per dog, or name the activities Nails Max and Nails Bella, so each dog's last trim is easy to find. If you give an activity a photo, for example of the brush or the nail clipper, the free photo scan can log it when you point the camera at it.

Log each session and see when you last did it

Logging is free. After grooming, tap + Log on the day and pick what you did. Brushed and cleaned the ears in one go? Select both and log them at once. Forgot to log Sunday's bath? Add it to that day afterwards.

To answer "when did I last trim the nails?", tap the Nail trim tile at the top of the calendar. The calendar then shows only that activity, so the last tile is the last trim. Switch to the month view to see the longer pattern: a dot in each activity's color on the days it happened, up to four per day. A long gap in the nail trim or bath dots shows right away.

Log the groomer visits too. Your home brushing and the salon cut then sit on the same calendar, and you can see how long the coat lasted between appointments.

Notes and flags worth keeping

Every log can carry a note and a green, amber or red flag. For grooming, useful notes are things like:

  • Nail trim: "Front paws done, back next time", or which nail was close to the quick
  • Bath: which shampoo you used and how the coat looked after
  • Ears: anything that looked or smelled different, with an amber flag, so you can tell the vet when it started
  • Groomer: the salon, the cut and the length, like "Summer cut, 3 cm"

When you log the same job again, the log sheet shows your last few notes for it, so you remember where you left off. Notes stay with the log and do not show on the calendar itself. The app does not judge what you write: it is your record, not a health check.

Premium: plan regular jobs on weekdays

With Premium, open the Plan tab and give the frequent jobs a recurring time: Brushing on Sundays and Wednesdays at 19:30, Teeth on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 21:00, Ears on Saturdays at 10:00. Planned entries show faded on the calendar until you log them, so a skipped brushing is easy to spot at the end of the week.

Each activity can have up to four recurring times. Add a From and Until date if a routine is only for a while, such as daily brushing during shedding season.

Single dates for nails, baths and the groomer

Schedules repeat on weekdays, and there is no "every three weeks" setting. For the jobs on longer cycles, add a Single day plan for the next date instead. After a nail trim, plan the next one three weeks out, or whatever your vet suggests. After a bath, plan the next bath. Each activity holds up to 20 single-day plans, so you can enter several dates ahead or just the next one each time, which keeps the cycle right when a session moves.

The groomer appointment fits the same way: a single day at the booked time, so it shows on the calendar next to your home grooming.

Reminders when you can do it

Each timed plan can send a reminder: on time, or 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes before. Set them for when you are actually at home with the dog, such as Sunday evening for brushing or Saturday morning for nails. A plan left on "Any time" still shows on the calendar but cannot send a notification.

Scheduling and reminders are part of Premium. Logging, notes, flags, the photo scan and the calendar are free. For feeding, walks and medicine, see the pet care app guide and the pet feeding and medication reminder.

Common questions

Is this an app for booking a dog groomer?

No. EasyRoutine is for owners who groom at home. You can log groomer visits and plan the appointment date, but you cannot book through the app.

How do I remember when I last trimmed my dog's nails?

Log each trim as Nail trim. Tap its tile at the top of the calendar to show only that activity, and the last tile is your last trim.

Can I set a reminder every three weeks for nails?

Not as a repeating rule, because recurring schedules use weekdays. Add single-day plans for the next trims instead, up to 20 per activity, each with a reminder. This needs Premium.

Can I track grooming for two dogs?

Yes. Use one routine per dog, or name the activities per dog, so each keeps its own history and plan.

How often should I groom my dog?

The app does not give grooming or health advice. Ask your vet or groomer what suits your dog's breed and coat, then enter that as your plan.
